The Heart of Murfreesboro
Murfreesboro's original athletic club, back under family ownership and better than ever.
Murfreesboro's original athletic club
Murfreesboro Athletic Club was founded in 2004, making it one of the longest-standing gyms in the city. From 2004 through 2021, MAC was the gym Murfreesboro called home, and the place where a lot of this town met, trained, and stayed connected.
After four years as Avalon Athletic Club, new family ownership brought the MAC name back in 2025, along with major upgrades to the facility, a full recovery studio, the return of Kidz Club, and a renewed commitment to the community that built us.
At 46,000 square feet, MAC is not just a gym. It's a full-service athletic club with world-class amenities, expert personal trainers, 200+ monthly group fitness classes, a state-of-the-art recovery studio, and a community that supports every member's journey.
Unlike the corporate chains that have moved into Murfreesboro, MAC is family owned and operated. We know our members by name. We invest in this community because we are part of it. The MAC is back, and we're here to stay.
Two decades in Murfreesboro
MAC becomes a Murfreesboro staple
Murfreesboro Athletic Club opens at 710 Memorial Blvd and quickly becomes more than a gym: a network and a community for people all over town, for seventeen years.
The Avalon years
The club is sold and rebranded Avalon Athletic Club, with a focus on in-house personal training. Walls come down, the floor opens up, and new equipment arrives.
The MAC is back
New family ownership restores the original name and invests heavily in the building: new gym and locker room flooring, fresh paint, the 1Self recovery studio folded into the club, and the return of Kidz Club.
